Privacy policy

St. John Ambulance Northumberland ("we", "us") is a branch of St. John Ambulance in Ontario. This policy explains what personal information this website (sjanorthumberland.ca) collects, how we use it and the choices you have. St. John Ambulance Canada's own website, sja.ca, and courses booked through it are covered by its own privacy policy.

What we collect

• Messages you send us. When you use our contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), your message and, for event coverage requests, the event's details.
• Volunteer applications. If you apply to volunteer, the application form on our members site collects the information it asks for, which we use to assess your application.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our servers and our security provider (Cloudflare) record basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site secure and working.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of visitors.

Cookies and outside services

The site may set cookies that are needed for it to work and to protect it from abuse, including Cloudflare's security check on our contact form. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when you load a page.

Social media

Our News page shows posts we've published on our own Facebook and Instagram accounts. We copy those posts from our own accounts only; we don't receive any information about you from Facebook or Instagram when you visit this site. Links to our social media accounts take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Our Facebook app is used only to read posts from our own Page. It doesn't collect or store information about Facebook or Instagram users. If you'd like any information about you deleted, email us at the address below and we'll do it.

How we use your information

We use what you send us to reply to you, to arrange event coverage, courses or therapy dog visits you ask about, and to process volunteer applications. We may contact you by email or phone about your request.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information. It's seen only by our volunteers and staff who need it to respond to you, and by the service providers that host our website and email on our behalf. We may share it with St. John Ambulance Ontario Council or St. John Ambulance Canada where that's needed for your request (for example, a volunteer application), or where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us, and for our records, and then delete it.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
